How to increase / decrease the size of Drive without losing data


       How to Partition Your Hard Drive in Windows.

 

Right click on my computer and select manage option from the context menu

 

  • Select the disk management and Right click on the drive which you want to decrease. (Current size of C drive: 470.03 GB).




  • Click on Shrink Volume…




  • As you can see, Size of available shrink space is provided in MB.So according to that you can enter the amount of space to shrink in MB.
  •  I am going to shrink 500 MB in my system. Click on shrink button and wait a minutes for processing. 









  • Shrink has been done. Now you can check your C drive size (469.54 MB) has been decreased.






  • Now you have 500 MB of space unallocated. You can either add this space to an existing drive or you can create a new drive with this unallocated space.



    How to create a new drive with the unallocated space
      

    Right click on unallocated space block and select “New Simple Volume”.








  • Keep on clicking the next button and click the finish button to complete the process. Now you can see that a new drive has been created in your hard disk.
